Bar Council suspends licences of 29 Sambalpur advocates for 18 months
Bhubaneswar: The Bar Council of India (BCI) on Monday suspended the licence of 29 advocates, including Sambalpur district bar association president Sureswar Mishra, for 18 months following the vandalism that was witnessed in Sambalpur court in the morning. The BCI also suspended the licence of all other members of Sambalpur bar association till further orders. A BCI statement said video clips of the vandalism shows almost all lawyers practising in Sambalpur were indulging in sloganeering, burning effigies of judges and office-bearers of the BCI and state bar council, entering the court room and damaging the computer sets. The members also manhandled and abused police personnel, it stated. tnn
