Manis Restaurant closed Tuesday following small kitchen fire

Port Huron Times Herald

A fire at Manis Restaurant was extinguished without any structural damage to the building on 10th Street in Port Huron early Tuesday.
Port Huron fire Lt. Roger Howison said crews were dispatched to a report of a kitchen fire about 3:45 a.m.
He said firefighters saw smoke coming from the roof and entered the restaurant to find a fire on a flat top stove.
Howison said the fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the stovetop.
Curtis Williams, who owns the restaurant, said it will be closed Tuesday but will reopen as soon as he replaces the griddle.
"It was just one of those things," he said.
Howison said the fire may have been caused by a malfunction in the stove.
