Kanpur: Additional sessions judge Surendra Pal Singh on Monday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5000 ech for committing murder.
According to ADGC Pradeep Kumar Sahu, the convicts are Deepu Tiwari alias Dilip Kumar Tiwari and Sudhir Tiwari, both residents of Ranjit Purwa village under Sachendi police circle. The incident had taken place on December 21, 2001.
Complainant Gajendra Singh of Ranjitpur stated in the FIR that while he and his younger brother Dheerendra Singh were going on foot to Akbarpur regarding a legal matter, Ghanshyam, Ram Singh Sengar and Chhotey met them near Katra and the four got involved in a conversation. Around 10.45 am, Deepu Tiwari, Sudhir Tiwari and Ram Chandra, all armed with firearms, reached there and stopped their motorcycle and shouted “Our enemy is here and today we should eliminate them”.
Dheerendra ran away from the spot and jumped into the canal. Deepu Tiwari and his two associates also jumped into the canal and after accosting Dheerendra on the other side of the canal shot him dead and then ran away from the site. The motive behind the murder was to settle an old score. The accused persons’ grandfather was shot dead some years ago and they suspected that Dheerendra and Gajendra Singh had been e behind his murder, the ADGC said.
