Man kills father, chops body into pieces in Karnataka

BAGALKOT: A 21-year-old man allegedly killed his father and cut his body into 10-15 pieces in Karnataka's Bagalkote district.
After committing the murder, the man dumped the body parts of his father into a borewell in his field near Mantur bypass road.

According to police sources, the deceased is identified as Parashuram Kulali (54) while the accused is Vitthal Kulali.
The incident took place in Mudhol on December 6, but it came to light on Tuesday, when police started an investigation based on a missing complaint lodged by the deceased’s wife.
Bagalkot SP Jayaprakash told TOI that during interrogation, the accused Vitthal confessed to the crime on Monday.
"It is learnt that the deceased Parashuram was an alcoholic and quarrelling with family members. He was survived by two sons and three daughters".
He had an argument with Vitthal over some silly matters on December 6 at his field, located at Mantur bypass near Mudhol town. As arguments continued between both the son and father, Vitthal lost his cool and picked up a rod and started hitting his father with the rod, killing him instantly.
He tried to hide the body in the defunct borewell, but could not do it since the diameter of the borewell was 6-8 inches. Then, he decided to cut his father’s body into several pieces. After chopping the body, he dumped the body parts into the borewell.
It is said that the accused and the deceased were staying in the same house while the deceased’s wife Saraswati was staying separately with her elder son for the past few years.
The accused also informed that another person also helped him in the crime, we are collecting more information about that person to nab him, said SP.
He further said, "Parashuram’s wife Saraswati had filed a missing complaint at Mudhol police station. Based on a missing complaint, we started an inquiry into the case. Suspecting his behaviour, we picked up Vitthal for inquiry. During our investigation, he spilled the beans and revealed the entire episode of the murder case. The accused used a sharp weapon to chop his father’s body in several pieces".
Mudhol police also visited the field and dug up the area where the body pieces were buried by using an earthmover and recovered the body parts.
"We have arrested the accused and he has been sent to judicial custody,” they added.
