Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) on Tuesday expressed unhappiness over the recent congestion of passengers at Delhi airport.

It has asked all the airlines to deploy adequate manpower and increase staff at the check-in counters during peak hours.

The decision from ministry comes after aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's surprise visit to Delhi airport which is one of the busiest airports in India.

"Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) expresses unhappiness over the recent congestion of passengers at major airports. MoCA directs all the airlines to deploy adequate manpower at check-in counters and increase manpower during peak hours, especially in the morning hours," ANI tweeted.

In recent days, there have been rising passenger complaints about long queues and waiting hours at the country's largest airport Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi.

The civil aviation ministry and the stakeholders have taken various measures to deal with the situation.

IGIA has three terminals -- T1, T2 and T3. All international flights and some domestic services operate from T3. On an average, it handles around 1.90 lakh passengers and about 1,200 flights daily.
