KOTA: Suicide by three coaching students within 12 hours rocked the coaching city, Kota, in Rajasthan on Monday.
Two of the deceased students, hailing from Bihar, hanged themselves from ceiling fans in their respective rooms in the same PG in Talwandi area.
The third student, a NEET aspirant belonging to Madhya Pradesh, allegedly consumed a poisonous substance in his hostel room under Kunhari police station late Sunday night.
In the primary investigations, police believe study stress to be the reason behind the extreme step taken by the three teen students.
The three deceased students were identified as Ankush Anand (18), a NEET aspirant and resident of Supaul district in Bihar, Ujjwal Kumar (17), a JEE aspirant from Gaya district in Bihar and Pranav Verma (17), another NEET aspirant from Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh.
"Ankush Anand and Ujjwal Kumar lived in adjoining rooms No 1 and 2 on the second floor in the same PG in Talwandi area for the last six months and both had been preparing for their entrance exams in the same coaching institute for around two years," DSP and CO of Jawahar Nagar area said.
Pranav Verma was found lying unconscious in the gallery of his hostel late Sunday night when the police rushed to the spot at around 12 midnight, circle inspector at Kunhari police station Ganga Sahay Sharma said.
The boy was rushed to hospital, where he was declared brought dead, he added.
