ULHASNAGAR: Two workers were injured in a clash between two groups of Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction in Maharashtra's Ulhasnagar on Monday afternoon.
Sources said one group was attacked by another while monitoring ongoing road construction work.
The injured were admitted to a private hospital in the city.
The sources said recently Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde sanctioned Rs 17 crore from the state government for cement road work in Manere area in Ulhasnagar.
On Monday, on instructions of Dr Shinde, ex-mayor Leelabai Ashan's son Arun Ashan, ex-corporator Vijay Patil along with party's functionary Vijay Joshi was monitoring the road work.
After some time, Ashan and Patil left the spot while Joshi and his supporters were checking the alignment of road work during which Vasant Bhoir who belongs to the same party, his son Vimal Bhoir and others started attacking Joshi's supporters with bamboo.
In the attack, Joshi's brother Ajay Joshi and one supporter identified as Mukesh suffered serious injuries on their head.
The exact reason behind the fight is yet to be known but it is said that both Joshi and Bhoir groups have some political rivalry.
In this case, both groups have approached local police demanding FIR against each other.
Police said an FIR was yet to be registered.
