PUNE: On Saturday night, a man and a woman struck up a friendly conversation with the family members of a two-and-a-half-year-old boy while waiting for a train on platform one of the Pune railway station, only to kidnap the toddler later.
The Pune railway government police (GRP) registered a case of kidnapping after the boy's family reported the matter to them following a search for the toddler and his kidnappers. Inspector Pramod Khopikar of the GRP, Pune told TOI on Sunday, "A team has been formed to trace the boy. CCTV footage from the platform and surrounding area show the duo leaving the railway station with the boy around 8.30pm and getting into an autorickshaw. We are trying to locate the autorickshaw and its driver."
Police said the boy's parents who are from
Jharkhand work at an under-construction site in Urali Kanchan. "When they did not return the boy's family searching, but couldn't find him amd then approached us," the officer added.
