Bangladeshi family arrested from city’s Arya Nagar area
Kanpur: A Bangladeshi family, consisting of five members, has been arrested from the city's Arya Nagar area on Sunday. One member of the family, however, was reported to be missing.
According to police, the Bangladeshi family had procured Aadhaar cards on the basis of certificates of SP MLA Irfan Solanki and corporator Mannu Rehman and have been living on rent in an Imperial Apartment in Arya Nagar area of the city since 2016.
Police have recovered Rs 14.56 lakh in foreign currency and Indian currency besides jewellery and other valuables from them. The police arrested them on a tip-off that a Bangladeshi national along with family members was hiding in the city. “Rizwan Mohammad, originally from Bangladesh's Khulna district, his wife Hina, father-in-law Khalid, daughter Rukhsar and his minor son (17) were arrested by the police on Sunday. Mohammad Adeeb, son of Rizwan Mohammad, is missing,” said joint police commissioner Anand Prakash Tiwari in a press conference held in the Police Line on Sunday.
JCP added that there was information that a foreign national was hiding in Kanpur.
Subsequently, a raid was conducted and they were arrested, he said and added, “During investigations, fake Aadhaar cards, Bangladeshi and Indian passports, fake birth certificates, foreign currency and Rs 14.56 lakh in Indian currency were recovered from this family.” The family has been hiding here since 2016, the police official further said.
JCP said that SP MLA Irfan Solanki and a local corporator Mannu Rehman had twice given certificates to Rizwan Mohammad. "Both have written in the certificates that they have known to him for a long time and he is an Indian national, and on the basis of the certificates his Aadhaar card and then all the other necessary documents were made”, the police official said. “Two certificates containing the signatures of MLA Irfan Solanki, made on August 19, 2017 and September 19, 2017, have been recovered from Rizwan. The signatures of both will be matched to check whether the recovered certificates have the actual signatures of the SP MLA and the corporator. The matter is being investigated in this regard," he added.
During investigation, it also came to fore that Rizwan had travelled not only from India to Bangladesh but also to America, Bangkok and many other countries with fake passports. "Other security agencies, including NIA, ATS, Military Intelligence, have also been informed about the entire matter. The officials of these security agencies are engaged in questioning the Rizwan and his entire family members," informed police sources.
Investigation also revealed that Rizwan had married Hina, daughter of Kanpur's Moolganj resident Khalid, in Delhi in the year 1998. "Rizwan also claims himself to be a MBBS doctor, but has not been able to show any degree till now," said a police official privy to the investigation. Apart from this, Hina has got passports of both India and Bangladesh, he added.
“Investigation is being done on various aspects. An FIR has been lodged against them at the Moolganj police station for cheating, making and using fake government documents, conspiracy and under section 14 of the Foreigners Act. More sections will be added on the basis of the facts coming to fore during further course of investigation,” said JCP Anand Prakash Tiwari. “Searches are underway to locate the whereabouts of one other member of the family who are missing”, he added.
