Four kids fall while playing on frozen lake in Solihull, critical; read here

Four children that fell in a pond in Solihull after sliding through the snow, have been retrieved. They remain in critical condition, according to emergency officials. The children, who are believed to be in primary school were allegedly playing on the frozen surface when it cracked.

Emergency service rushed to the scene in Babbs Mill Park in Kingshurst, Solihull on Sunday morning when police officers and onlookers were already in the icy water trying to save them.

Cameron McVittie, a tactical commander with West Midlands Ambulance told UK media “On being rescued, the four children were taken under blue lights to hospital with an advanced care team.”Two were taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and two to Heartlands in Birmingham. All four children were in critical condition on arrival.”


"Unfortunately, the children in the water were in cardiac arrest and were receiving advanced life support en route to hospital."

There is no further update given on their condition.

During the rescue effort, one police officer experienced a slight case of hypothermia and was also brought to the hospital, but he is expected to fully recover.

The weather forecast is predicting that the UK will continue to experience a cold period, with days of snow, ice, and freezing fog.
