Woman says lender usurped house
Vadodara: A widow living in Siddharth Bungalows on Sama-Savli Road has lodged a complaint against a man, alleging that he had lent her deceased husband money by taking a loan against their own house. The loan against the house was not repaid by the accused who even transferred the house in his son’s name.
The victim, Chandrika Pandya, stated in an offence registered with the Gotri police station that her husband was facing a financial crunch in 2017 and had approached a friend for help. The friend took him to one Mahesh Advani who took their property documents and gave them a loan of Rs 20 lakh. Pandya claimed she received a notice from the bank on September 7, 2020, regarding a loan of Rs 70 lakh on the house.
Pandya claimed that they realized at this time that Advani had taken a loan of Rs 70 lakh against the property and given Rs 20 lakh to them. The remaining amount was used by Advani, she alleged. Pandya also claimed that the house was transferred by Advani to his son Bharat.
Pandya has stated that after receiving the bank notice, they complained to the city police commissioner. After this, Advani promised to repay the debt but did not do so. She alleged that the bank officials had also come to seal their home, and due to the stress, her husband Nilesh suffered a fatal heart attack. She alleged that they had made complaints regarding the issue in November 2021 and January 4, 2022, but withdrew these under pressure from Advani.
