We’ll gift Kharge assy poll victory: Ex-CM
Kalaburagi : Leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah said Mallikarjun Kharge never tried to become AICC president, but the post itself has come to him, which is a victory for a honest Congress functionary.
Congress will come to power in the state and in the country under Kharge’s leadership, Siddaramaiah said while addressing a gathering at NV ground here on Saturday. Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Kharge will see the party shining again, he added.
“We will only gift Kharge the victory in the assembly elections. In 2018 elections, Congress had won in 21 of 41 constituencies in the region. In the next elections, the number will rise to 32 seats, for which we have start working from now,” he said.
KPCC president D K Shivakumar said Kharge, who was born as a son of a common labourer, worked for Congress for 50 years, and his hard work has paid off with him helming the party now.
“Special status to Kalyana Karnataka region is got by Kharge. It happened only because of his commitment to the people and the region. If our party comes to power, we will give Rs 5,000 crore financial aid to the region and also fill all backlog posts. We are also ready to bring new industrial policy to this region so one lakh jobs are created in private sector” he said.
Former deputy chief minister G Parameshwara, KPCC general secretary Eshwar Khandre, AICC Karnataka in charge Randeep Singh Surjevala, former MP K H Muniyappa, M B Patil and others were present. Congress leaders were present.
