Thane: Woman sets self on fire in public loo in Louiswadi, dies

THANE: A 65-year-old woman died of burn injuries after she attempted suicide by setting herself ablaze inside a public toilet in the Louiswadi slums on Saturday afternoon, informed police.
“The incident was reported around 1pm. The woman, identified as R Pillai, went to the local public toilet and locked herself inside and set herself ablaze. She was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries,” said a police officer.
The woman was staying with her daughter and son-in-law. She was disturbed after her son passed away last month and is learnt to have attempted to end her life in the past as well, said the police. The Wagle estate police have registered a case of accidental death.
