CHENNAI: Three people were injured after a portion of their neighbor's wall collapsed on their roof in Saidapet on Friday night.
A couple Kesava Vel, 42, K Lakshmi, 35 and their three-and-a-half-year-old were trapped underneath the debris. Quoting the doctors, the investigation officer said that the woman and the child are brain dead. The doctors are yet to declare their health status.
Police said, the victim Kesava Vel was an employee at a cycle shop and lived at Neruppu Medu, Alandur Road in Saidapet. His neighbour Dhinakar had built a house adjacent to his.
Due to the cyclone the parapet wall of the newly constructed building collapsed and fell on Kesava Vel's tiled roof while they were asleep. On information, the neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued the trio. Meanwhile, a police team from the Saidapet police station arrived at the scene.
They sent the child to the Institute of Child Health and Hospital in Egmore, while the couple was admitted at the Government Royapettah Hospital (GRH). Further investigations are on.tnn
