BMW's first electric scooter showcased in India: Range, features & more
BMW today kicked off its festival concept event Joytown in New Delhi, which saw the launch of the new BMW XM, M340i XDrive, and the BMW S1000RR. The brand has planned three Joytown events between 10 December 2022 and 31 January 2023, the first of which concluded today. During the launch of XM, it was also announced that five new products from the BMW Group will be launched before January end. One of the key highlights at the event was the BMW CE 04, which is the company's first electric scooter.
The futuristic-looking scooter gets an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It promises a power figure of 31 kW (42 hp) and a 0-50 km/h sprint time of 2.6 seconds. BMW claims a range of 130 km per charge and a top speed of 120 kph. The battery can be charged from 0 percent to 100 percent in 4 hours and 20 minutes using a 2.3kW charger. This time can be reduced to an hour and 40 minutes via a 6.9kW fast charger.
The scooter boasts three riding modes - Eco, Road, and Rain - and a traction control system. Features include a 10.25-inch TFT touchscreen with smartphone connectivity. The suspension setup includes a 35 mm telescopic fork and the preload adjustable monoshock attached to a single-sided swingarm. It gets a 120-section tyre up front and 160 at the rear.
BMW is showcasing the scooter at the Joytown event being held at JLN Stadium, New Delhi from 10-11 December 2022. The company has so far not revealed any plans for its launch in India. If launched, it'll be the second BMW scooter after the C 400 GT. The price tag on the CE 04 is twice that of the C 400 GT, which would make it priced about the same as the R 1250 GS.
