Youth kills friend for refusal to give drug-laced injection, held

Prayagraj: A 20-year-old youth was arrested by the Pratapgarh police on Friday on the charges of killing his 19-year-old friend for refusing to provide drug injections. The police have seized toxic injections, syringes, match boxes, a ‘bidi’ bundle and a bike from the possession of the accused.
The arrested person was identified as Saurabh Mishra, a resident of Baburai Jahanpur (Sangramgarh).
Police said that the body of an unidentified youth, who was later identified as Shikhar Tiwari (19), a resident of Lalganj, was recovered near Tanda Bazar area under the limits of Maheshganj police station on December 3. Following the incident, an FIR under sections 302, 201 and 34 of IPC was registered and SP (Pratapgarh) Satpal instructed police to work out the case. A team of Maheshganj police arrested the wanted accused near Jahanpur turn road while planning to escape. The accused told the police that slain Shikhar Tiwari was his close friend and they used to enjoy drugs and toxic injections together. He also confessed that they were heavily addicted to smack. The accused further said that he had visited the victim’s house on November 29 and told his family members that they both were going to Prayagraj.
However, Saurabh dropped his idea to visit Prayagraj and they went back to Saurabh’s home in Sangramgrah. The accused claimed that they had planned to visit Prayagraj to search for jobs as a waiter so that they could buy drugs.
Saurabh told police that they kept on roaming near Tanda Bazar for more than two days and enjoyed drugs. As the family members of Saurabh lived in Noida, they were having drugs without any objections.
On December 2, both Saurabh and Shikhar had left early in the morning and roamed throughout the day. They reached Tandabazar area during night and enjoyed drugs near a deserted place. In the midnight, Saurabh demanded Shikhar to provide him more drug injections, but Shikhar refused. The duo had scuffle over the issue. “However, Shikhar was killed during the scuffle and I went to my house,” the accused added.
