Rare and royal: Sangamam delegates get taste of Tamil delicacies in City of Sangam
Prayagraj: A sumptuous meal comprising a variety of flavoured rice, upma, idli, dosa, sambhar and coconut chutney to lip-smacking dessert of semiya kesari is being served to delegates of Kashi Tamil Sangamam who can choose from a wide range of Tamil delicacies during their visit to Prayagraj as a group of seven chefs of Tamil origin are offering a great variety of delectable food to these visitors who will stay in Sangam city till December 17. The delegates stay in Kashi and Ayodhya for two days and five to six hours in Prayagraj.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Rajesh Kesarwani told TOI, “Only Tamil Nadu’s traditional cuisine is being prepared by the trained and professional Tamil Nadu based chefs for the delegates”.
He added “We have set up a special kitchen to prepare meals and breakfast and the food is being prepared as per the given menu”
“Apart from various varieties of rice including lemon rice, Imli rice and dahi rice, the special dal tadka ( both moong and masoor)is being prepared by professional cooks for delegates for the lunch “ said Kesarwani adding “ we also offer Upma, Idli, Dosa & sabhar along with coconut chutney in the breakfast” he added.
As far as sweet/desert dish was concerned, we offer Semiya Kesari ( made of milk, sugar and sewai) to the delegates. Moreover, coconut chutney, Appadam papri, lemon pickle, aalo bharta along with rumali roti and chapati, and palak recipe are also being offered in the lunch.
Suchitra, adelegate said “It’s a nice gesture to have our own traditional breakfast andlunch after covering miles of distance and this also gives us feeling like home”. She also appreciated the efforts of peopleof Sangam city to greet the delegates with roli , tilak and angavastram andinteraction to exchange cultural values of two regions.
Claiming thequality of food outstanding and wonderful, another delegate K Subhash appreciatedthe efforts of Yogi led state government and claimed we are speechless toexpress our feeling and gratitude at the way when we are welcomed at railway stationas well as other visiting sites by the people of Kashi and Prayagraj.
Theselection of breakfast and lunch menu was delightful and pleasing, and we haveno words to elaborate our joy and happiness.
