City to have Maha Rudra Training Centre on lines of YASHADA
Nagpur: After Vasantrao Naik State Agricultural Extension Management Training Institute (VANAMATI), the city will soon have ‘Maha Rudra Training Centre (MRTC) where nearly three lakh personnel related to Maharashtra’s Rural Development Department will be trained.
Announcing this on Wednesday, minister for forests and cultural affairs Sudhir Mungantiwar said the new centre would function on the lines of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) which trains personnel from various government departments, non-officials from rural and urban areas along with the stakeholders.
The Chandrapur Forest Academy of Administration and Management, spread over 125 acres, functions on similar lines to train forest service officers in the state.
Like YASHADA, MRTC too would be an administrative training institute of the Maharashtra government that would train about 1.92 lakh sarpanchs across the state and one lakh officials of the Rural Development Department headed by minister Girish Mahajan. The department has granted approval for MRTC.
“The decision to set up MRTC was taken in the meeting with top government officials on Wednesday morning in Nagpur. I have instructed collector Dr Vipin Itankar to find 100 acres land within 40km periphery of the city to set up MRTC. Nagpur is allotted this institute as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Utsav’ where the cultural affairs department was made a nodal agency for executing projects like MRTC,” he said.
The minister announced that the cultural affairs department was allocated Rs500 crore for distribution to various departments as a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Utsav’. “Rs100 crore will be given for MRTC and Rs54 crore to YASHADA for building an auditorium. Rs55 crore will be given for SNDT Women’s University to start its sub-centre in Gadchiroli where skill-development programmes would be offered for tribal students,” he said.
Mungantiwar said MRTC trainees would be accommodated at MLA Hostel, which would be developed as a five-star facility. “Our department would beautify the hostel walls and provide audio-visual facility there,” he said.
