Mysuru: Renowned conservationist Ullas Karanth said that in the changing times, people should not be afraid of technology, but should utilise it for development activities and to save environment, nature and wildlife.
Karanth was speaking at the 14th Graduate Day of JSS College for Women, Saraswathipuram, here on Wednesday. The world will be in danger if nature, wildlife and environment are not protected, he said. “We get several benefits and facilities from nature, and it is our duty to protect them. We must understand that like how we have the right to live, all living beings too have the same,” he said.
He said the amount of food production increased due to the Green Revolution. “Then, the country’s GDP was 3%. But now, it has increased to 8%. Dependency on agriculture has increased owing to progress in education and agricultural development,” Karanth said.
Writer Doddarangegowda said that despite education, people indulged in inhuman activities. tnn
