Ludhiana: Non-woven bags and products manufacturers have started a series of dharnas against the ban imposed on manufacturing of non-woven products by the Punjab government. It is matter of great concern that the factories in Punjab are not being allowed to manufacture non-woven carry bags and products, but these are coming in huge quantities from other states without any problem.”
Another manufacturer Ashish Saggar said, “Our investments worth crores went down the drain after the government banned these products. Moreover, the industry is other states is blooming, which otherwise did not even exist, as Ludhiana ranked No. 1 in production of non-woven products. So in such a situation, we do not have any alternative except for protesting to get our rights.”
APTT member Parveen Chabra said, “In our fight against the system, we are getting huge support from public and right now we have started protesting for two hours daily at Jagraon Bridge. The duration of the protest will be increased in the coming days until the ban is lifted.”
