Ludhiana: Twelve days after a 24-year-old woman had reportedly left her house to marry her lover, her body was found buried in a stud farm in Hathur area of Jagraon on Wednesday. The Ludhiana rural police have arrested her lover and his three accomplices for murder and burying her body. According to the police, the accused at first had dumped the body in Sudhar canal, but due to low flow of water, they picked the body up the next day and then tried to burn it. When they failed, they buried the half-burnt body in a stud farm owned by the main accused. The deceased has been identified as Jaspinder Kaur of Hathur area. The police have arrested her boyfriend 21-yera-old Parampreet Singh, his brother Bhavpreet Singh, friends Ekamjot Singh and Jaspreet Singh. The police also recovered the body from the farm.
The woman had left her house with some cash and gold jewellery on November 24. The family had approached the Hathur police, however the police took no action, as alleged by the kin.
Senior superintendent of police, ,Jagraon Harjeet Singh stated that Jaspinder and Parampreet were in a relationship for the past some time and were distant relatives too. Jaspinder wanted to marry Parampreet, but he was reluctant. Moreover, Parampreet suspected Jaspinder of having an affair with someone else too. When Jaspinder left her house, she met Parampreet and asked him to marry her and he refused. This triggered an argument between them after which Parampreet strangled Jaspinder with her dupatta.
The SSP added, “Parampreet took the help of his brother and two friends in dumping the body in Abohar branch canal in Dhaipai village, however due to the low water flow the body remained at the same place till next day. The next morning when the accused noticed the dead body lying at the same spot in the canal, they picked it from there. The body was taken to a stud farm where the accused tried to burn . The body, however, did not burn properly. Afterwards, the accused hired a JCB machine and got a pit dug in the stud farm, stating that a horse had died and they have buried it. The accused buried Jaspinder in the pit.”
As Jaspinder and Parampreet’s families are distant relatives, they came to know that the Jaspinder had died after which they approached the police and the police swung into action. The police nabbed the accused and thereafter recovered the body.
