While the surgery was on, the lights went off, forcing the doctors to switch to mobile flashlights
KENDRAPADA: A probe was ordered on Wednesday into reports claiming that a patient was treated by doctors in cell phone torchlight on Tuesday night for want of electricity in the CHC at Marshaghai in Kendrapada district.
The photographs and videos showing doctors and other staff of the hospital treating the patient with phone flashlights went viral on social media.
According to the reports, a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in an accident on Tuesday night for which he was admitted to the CHC. Additional district chief medical officer of Kendrapada, Dr Babar Bej, said, "We are investigating the incident."
A doctor of the Marsaghai CHC said, "While doctors and nurses were performing a minor surgery, the lights went off which forced them to switch on mobile flashlights before the generator could be started.
