Chandrapur: A YouTube channel reporter Tanshil Pathan, who received life threat from drug mafia for exposing narcotics racket in the city, has cried foul over inaction of the police department in the matter.
Pathan came before the media on Wednesday revealing the names of bigwigs allegedly involved in consumption and peddling of drugs and the locations where drugs are consumed.
Pathan claimed he was threatened by kingpin of the narcotics dealers from Nagpur at a local beer bar on November 11 for exposing the network.
“An aide of the drug kingpin Lakku had pulled out a pistol in the bar to threaten me. Ram Nagar police gave clean-chit to the main accused while registering a non-cognizable offence against another accomplice Bunty Shukla, as CCTV could not record the gun incident,” Pathan claimed.
Pathan further said an insider from the narcotics network Hamza Sheikh, who helped him in exposing the racket, was attacked by five goons on November 24. “Hamza was beaten black and blue and threatened with life, but police have failed to arrest the attackers despite registering FIR. Even the guardian minister’s directives to SP Ravindra Sing Pardeshi to take strong action against the drug mafia have failed to mobilise the police department,” he charged.
During the meet, Pathan revealed some locations where drugs are allegedly provided, consumed and also the names of some bigwigs allegedly addicted to drugs and promoting it among the youths. “A son of a former municipal president, a brother of a former corporator and a bar operator are directly involved in consumption and are also promoting it among the youths. A hideaway over a second-hand car showroom on Nagpur Road, a room behind a bike showroom, a discarded lane behind Raghuwanshi Complex and dark corner of railway over-bridge near engineering college are used in the night for consumption of the drugs,” he claimed.
Pathan, who claims to be city president of Samajwadi Party, claimed he has apprised party’s state president and MLA Abu Asim Azmi of the rampant drug abuse in Chandrapur city. Azmi has assured him to take up the matter during the winter session of the state legislature at Nagpur, he said.
SP Pardeshi claimed police are investigating the matter and action will be taken against those found involved in the drug racket.
