State-level special games to start today at city stadium
Ludhiana: Punjab education department is organising state-level games for children with special needs at Guru Nanak Stadium here on December 8 and 9. Education minister Harjot Singh Bains would inaugurate these games on Thursday.
1,114 specially abled players, including 746 male students and 368 female students from across the state will participate in a range of events. From Ludhiana, 100 male and 50 female students will participate in the games.
Sharing details, Ajitpal Singh, sports in-charge, education department said the participants will be accommodated in 25 schools and colleges of the city and will be provided with water, lighting and washroom facility. Students will be participating in 14 games including athletics, long jump, shot put, badminton, table tennis, handball, volleyball and football. District special educator Pradeep Kaur said it was a great initiative by the government that would promote inclusivity among students.
District education officers Harjit Singh (secondary) and Baldev Singh (elementary) said, “We have assigned tasks to various committees like arrangements, purchase, technical, cultural programme, langar, ground, transport, accommodation, and medical committees.”
