Delhi MCD Election Result Live Updates: Counting of votes is under way for 250 wards of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) amid tight security. The EVMs, with the mandate of 73,20,577 voters, will remain under tight vigil at 42 centres across the national capital. Both AAP and the BJP have exuded confidence that they will emerge victorious in the polls while the Congress is seeking to regain lost turf. Both the ruling BJP and AAP have put up 250 candidates each for the elections, while the Congress has 247 aspirants and Bahujan Samaj Party, 132. Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 50.48 per cent in the polls held on December 4. The fate of 1,349 candidates at 250 wards was sealed in the Sunday polling for the Delhi MCD elections compared with 2,538 in 2017. In the 2017 civic election, the BJP had won 181 of the 270 wards, the AAP had won 48 wards and the Congress 27. The Delhi MCD results will likely be out by 3pm. Counting of votes under way

The counting of votes for 250 wards of Municipal Corporation of Delhi began at 8am. Counting is being held under tight vigil at 42 centres across the national capital.

Entry of people authorised by the commission shall be allowed only by the security personnel deployed at these centres. Though use of mobile phones has been allowed inside the centres, the same is restricted to the designated areas as per instructions of returning officers/SEC.

Exit poll predictions

The exit polls predicted that AAP led by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will now also rule the municipal corporation of the national capital for the first time. The polls predicted that BJP, which has won three successive civic elections in the national capital, will be ousted from power in the first election since the re-unification of the municipal corporations.
