Delhi MCD Election Results 2022 Live Updates: Votes are counted in the elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Counting started 8 am under tight security.
Elections to the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were held on December 4, with only about a 50 per cent turnout.
The election was largely seen as a three-way contest between AAP, BJP and Congress.
Exit polls aired a day after polling predicted that Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would win big and rule MCD for the first time.
The polls predicted that the BJP, which has ruled MCD since 2007, will fall well short of a three-figure mark.
The exit polls also predicted a poor performance by Congress and indicated that the party has failed to revive itself in the national capital.
The Aaj Tak-Axis My India survey showed the AAP was going to bag 149-171 municipal wards, while the BJP will win 69-91 wards. The survey gave 3-7 wards to the Congress and 5-9 to others.
The AAP is predicted to win 146-156 wards in the Times Now-ETG survey which gave 84-94 wards to the BJP and 6-10 to the Congress and up to four to others.
The News X exit poll gave the Aam Aadmi Party 150-175 wards and the BJP 70-92, while the Congress may win 4-7 municipal wards.
The BJP that has been ruling the civic bodies since 2007 had won 181 of the total 270 municipal wards in the 2017 civic body polls, defeating the AAP and the Congress. The AAP won 48 wards and the Congress 30.
Counting is held in 42 centres located in areas, including, Shastri Park, Yamuna Vihar, Mayur Vihar, Nand Nagari, Dwarka, Okhla, Mangolpuri, Pitampura, Alipur and Model Town
Twenty companies of paramilitary personnel and over 10,000 officers of Delhi Police have been deployed at the counting centres. Heavy police presence is ensured outside the offices of political parties to prevent clashes between activists of different parties.

What BJP feels about the Delhi MCD election exit poll
"We have hope that the results will prove the exit polls wrong and the BJP will return back to rule the MCD. However, we will accept whatever the results are," said Delhi BJP general secretary Dinesh Pratap Singh.
The counting will start at 8am and 68 election observers have been deployed by the commission, under whose supervision the counting of votes at the 42 centres will be carried out.

Will Delhi MCD election exit polls hold true?
This in brief was what various exit polls predicted as the outcome of the Delhi MCD poll. All of them show AAP winning by a handsome margin. A word of caution though - exit polls can go off mark, sometimes way off mark.
This mandate will be a signal from Delhi to the whole country that AAP is a fiercely-honest party. The BJP levelled fake allegations against me, ran a witch-hunt against Satyendar Jain. But the people of Delhi have proven with their mandate that there was no scam in Delhi and all the allegations levelled by the BJP were false, motivated by conspiracy and dirty politics.
