BJP men on way to submit farm loan waiver memo to Rahul halted in Kota
Kota: BJP workers on way to submit a memorandum to Rahul Gandhi reminding him of his 4-year-old promise of farmers’ loan waiver by the state government were stopped by police at Anwan Darra Chouraha in Sangod town of Kota district on Tuesday.
The BJP workers were on their way to Marukalan, where Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was scheduled to reach in the evening for night stay.
The party leaders alleged that police used force that left 10-12 workers injured. Police, however, denied the charge.
Rahul Gandhi had promised to farmers of the state four years ago that Congress government would waive farmers’ loan within a few days of assuming office but it has not been fulfilled so far, BJP ex-MLA Heeralal Nagar said.
Meanwhile, circle inspector at Sangod police station Rajesh Soni denied use of force on BJP workers saying demonstrators, attempting to stage a dharna, were pulled and pushed away to disperse the assembly.
The demonstrators were later detained in a bus and were released around 4-5km from the area, he added and refused to register any case in the matter.
