Teachers demand opening of transfers before budget
Jaipur: Grade-III teachers have called a state-wide meeting in Jaipur on December 25 demanding the state government to open transfers that have not taken place since 2018. The state has 2.20 lakh Grade III teachers in a pool of 4.65 lakh government teachers in 88,000 government schools.
The teachers’ bodies have demanded that if the transfers are not done before the budget session, they will disrupt the assembly. The state is fearing an internal fight among MLAs and Congress leaders over their share of transfers are reluctant to initiate the process. The process for the transfer of Grade III teachers was initiated in 2021 and the government received about 80,000 applications. However, the process was stalled after the state announced that they would soon announce the transfer policy.
Vipin Sharma, general secretary of Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karamchari Mahasangh says that December 25 has been chosen as it is a holiday, and no class will be impacted. “Other demands include transfer policy, benefits under advanced career progress, formation of Karamchari Kalyan Board etc. If the government does not concede to the demands, they will face an indefinite protest from teachers,” said Sharma.tnn
