MNM: Expedite desilting works at Singanallur

Coimbatore: A group of Makkal Needhi Maiam functionaries submitted a petition to mayor Kalpana Anandakumar during the weekly grievance day on Tuesday, urging her to expedite the desilting work of storm water drain on Kamarajar Road at Singanallur.
MNM functionary A Soundarajan said the desilting work on the stretch was taken up after 10 years. “However, the work between ESI Hospital and NGR School came to a halt after concrete slabs covering the drains were damaged. Now pedestrians face difficulty as there is no pathway for them and are forced to walk on the road. Hence, officials must expediate the work.”
The mayor received a total of 29 petitions at the meeting. Corporation commissioner M Prathap and deputy commissioner M Sharmila were present. Out of the 29 petitions, six were pertaining to the west zone, five to the east zone, seven to the south zone, three to the central zone, and one to the north zone, besides seven petitions to departments functioning from the corporation’s main building. tnn
