THANE: The Thane police have arrested four people, including two local developers and a local functionary of a political party, for allegedly posing with swords, in separate incidents.
Senior inspector Sachin Gawde at the Shil Daighar police station said that they were tipped off by their sources after the accused had posted their pictures wielding the swords on their respective social media accounts which later went viral.
While one picture is of a birthday party where one of the accused is seen cutting the cake using it, the other two images sourced by the police seem to be clicked at separate functions where the other two accused are seen wielding the swords during some ceremonies.
Police said the uploaded pictures hint that they aren’t current but from the recent past. However, the police said they took cognizance of the matter and registered a case and started investigations.
"Three separate cases were registered with us under relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act and the Indian Penal Code. Accordingly, we zeroed in on them and managed to arrest all the four accused within a span of five hours following instructions from seniors," said Gawde, adding that they will investigate the matter further.
