Trucks collide; 2 drivers dead

Mangaluru: Two drivers were killed in a collision between a tipper truck and a 10-wheel truck at Gurupura-Kaikamba, on the outskirts of Mangaluru on Monday morning. One of the deceased has been identified as Lokanath Shettigar, from Derebail, the tipper truck driver. The identity of the other driver is yet to be ascertained.
Preliminary information revealed that the 10-wheel truck from Andhra Pradesh laden with soil was bound towards Kaikamba from Mangaluru and the tipper truck was travelling in the opposite direction when the mishap occurred. The accident took place on a narrow curve between Kaikamba and Gurpura. Bajpe police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic. A crane was used to clear both the trucks from the site. The cleaners of both vehicles were injured, police said. tnn
