The NSE Nifty index closed 58.3 points down at 18642.75, while BSE Sensex ended down 208.24 points at 62626.36.
On the other hand, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 2.91 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 2.50 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 2.35 per cent), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 2.33 per cent) and UPL Ltd.(down 1.86 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
