Gurgaon: Have you ever seen a bill with a name but no address or an address but no name? Residents of Ardee City, taken over by
MCG on June 15, have started getting such water bills. Incorrect names and addresses are also showing up. According to the RWA, the MCG has issued over 3,000 water bills for Ardee City, but there are only 2,300 housing units in the colony.
The RWA members said that an MCG employee recently handed over the bills to them, after which they noticed the missing or incorrect details. The bill amounts, the RWA members added, were also irrational and not uniform — one bill amounted to Rs 2,000, while another for the same plot size was Rs 9,000. So, the RWA refused to accept the bills and returned them to MCG.
TOI has accessed two such water bills — one without a name, while the other had a name but no address. RWA members said the MCG seems to have issued the water bills based on the new property IDs, but there have been several complaints against the same. Earlier, TOI also reported that the latest property ID survey noted wrong names and addresses of property owners.
“Most had wrong addresses, some were unnamed, and the amounts mentioned in the bills were not uniform. We refused to accept the bills since there was incorrect information in them,” said Chaitali Mandhotra, a resident and RWA member of Ardee City.
“Water bills of vacant plots were also issued. It looked like they were issued using the data of new property IDs, which is grossly wrong,” said Praveen Yadav, the RWA president of Ardee City.
Vishal Garg, an executive engineer with the MCG, said, “There must have been some technical glitch in issuing the water bills. We will re-evaluate the bills and send the revised bills as per actuals.”
