14 med students rusticated from Silchar college hostel

Guwahati: Authorities at the Government Dental College, Silchar rusticated 14 students from the hostel after a junior student complained to the University Grants Commission (UGC) that he and his batch mates were facing unabated ragging.
The 14 students were rusticated on December 2, but the news broke on Monday, the second such incident of ragging that was reported in the last 10 days, where students in large groups have been punished for humiliating juniors.
Principal of the dental college, Manjula Das told TOI that a first year BDS student of 2021-22 batch complained to the UGC on December 1, saying the students were humiliated and had to face rude behaviour on several occasions. Das said the written complaint was evidence based, particularly against the 14 students.
