‘She was to get married in Feb, one phone call changed our lives forever’
Noida: Deepika Tripathi, the 24-year-old woman run over by a Jaguar, was just a couple of months from her marriage. She lived with her parents, brother and her sister-in-law in Sector 143.
Munni Tripathi, Deepika’s mother, said she was busy with her household chores when the family received a call from police. “One phone call has changed our lives forever. My daughter was the youngest member of the family and was loved by all. I had four children — three of them daughters. One of Deepika’s elder sisters died a couple of years ago. Now, we have lost her. She was supposed to get married in February. Everything had been planned,” she told TOI. It was Deepika who ran the family. “My son doesn’t earn much. He is a guard at a highrise apartment,” she said. Munni said Deepika’s father, Raj Narayan Tripathi, had stopped talking after his daughter’s death.
“For the past few months, he had not been keeping well anyway. After getting the news of Deepika’s death, he is unable to cope with the loss,” she said.
Lucknow resident Lalit Trivedi said Deepika was to marry his brother in February. “She was at that stage of her life where she could take decisions on her own. She had decided to get married to my brother and we had arranged everything. She was happy about it. Since her brother doesn’t earn much, the entire family relied on her heavily. It’s a big loss,” he added.
