
NEW DELHI: Several stocks rallied as much as 15% in Mumbai trading on Tuesday even as equity benchmarks, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty, traded in the red amid brisk selling in frontline bluechip counters.
Stocks that surged in excess of 15% included, SBEC Sugar Ltd(19.91%), Sumeet Ind(19.89%), Kaushalya Infra(19.86%), Tijaria Polypip(19.83%), Dhunseri Tea(19.82%), Punjab Sind Bank(19.56%) and East West Holdings(18.7%).
The 30-share BSE Sensex ended 208.24 points down at 62626.36, while the 50-share index, NSE closed 58.3 points down at 18642.75.
In the Nifty50 index, 23 stocks closed in the green, while 27 stocks ended in the red.
Meanwhile, stocks such as , , J&K Bank, and hit their fresh 52-week high, while , Future Consumer, , and touched their new 52-week low in today's trade.
