GURUGRAM: Clearer skies and winds coming in from the Himalayas brought down temperatures, as the city recorded a low of 9.8 degrees Celsius on Monday, data by the India Meteorological Department showed. Sunday's lowest temperature was 10.6 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists said mornings and evenings were chilly, but days were still warm due to abundant sunshine.
The maximum temperature marginally dipped from 24.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday to 23.8 degrees Celsius on Monday.
According to IMD, mercury will fall for the next two days, but a feeble western disturbance (a meteorological phenomenon that originates in the Mediterranean and eventually triggers rainfall in India) in the northern states of J&K and Himachal Pradesh is likely to keep temperatures in check in Delhi-NCR.
"Clear skies coupled with cold winds coming from the mountains brought winter chill to the plains. The minimum temperature is expected to witness a gradual, but marginal drop during the next two days and it may hover around 8-9 degrees. Thereafter, a feeble western disturbance is going to impact the northern states on December 7," an IMD official said.
Till now, mercury recorded the season's low of 8.1 degrees Celsius on November 29. For Tuesday, IMD has forecast clear skies with minimum and maximum temperature expected to hover around 9 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
