COIMBATORE: As much as 78% of candidates did not appear for the written examination for the post of forest apprentices, conducted by the Tamil Nadu public service commission (TNPSC) on Sunday.
TNPSC had conducted the group-VI examination across the state to fill 10 vacancies.
The examination was held at two private colleges at Nava India in Coimbatore city on Sunday morning. Though 1,464 candidates were expected to appear for the examination, only 320, or 21.86% of candidates, turned up.
Meanwhile, 2,648 of the 3,508 candidates appeared for the examination conducted by the revenue department for the post of village assistants in Coimbatore. The examination was held at nine centres.
