
Google is celebrating the holiday season with the launch of new features for Android mobile and smartwatch devices. These features will be pushed out for Google Photos, messages, Google TV, and across other Google Android apps with the aim to enhance user interface, accessibility, digital well-being, and productivity. Some of the new Android features include -- Digital car key sharing, Reading Mode, new Kitchen emoji, and more.
In the latest blog post, Google announced new accessibility-oriented features for Android phones and Wear OS smartwatches. Let's take a detailed look at upcoming new Android features for this holiday season.
Similar to Apple's reading mode for Safari, the new Reading mode for Android will provide an accessible reading experience. Users will be able to customise their reading experience according to their needs and adjust font type and size, contrast, and a text-to-speech option to adjust the overall reading set-up in their smartphone.
The Reading mode in Android will provide "an accessible reading experience that can be helpful for people who are Blind, low vision or dyslexic", Google said. The feature is also fully compatible with TalkBack, which is an accessibility service for the Android operating system by Google.
The app is currently available to download on Play Store. The Reading mode for Android is also with YouTube videos and provides several options for watching videos including converting the text content into speech.
Google's Digital Car Key will now allow people to share their digital car key with others across Pixels and some iPhones models. The Digital car key feature already lets users control the lock of their cars from their smartphone. With the new update, people will be able to share the digital key of the vehicle remotely through the app. In addition, people will also have control over who can access their cars and manage multiple car keys through the digital wallet app.
The feature is available for Pixel 6 and select iPhones. It will be available to more phones with Android 12 or higher software versions.
Google Photos bought Styles to collage editor. Now users can create and edit so they can create shareable collages of their photos and send them to their friends and family. Additionally, Google has added some new designs from two new artists - Australian husband-and-wife visual duo DABSMYLA and renowned watercolour artist Yao Cheng Design.
To create a new college-
The latest update also adds some new emojis by Emoji Kitchen. Users can create their hybrid emoji in Gboard. Users can mix snow emoji, blue hearts and other emoji with regular emoji to feel the holiday fun.
Google has added a new Widget in the home screen tray. There's new YouTube Home screen Search widget that will allow users to surf YouTube directly from the smartphone's home screen.
Users will now be able to cast directly from the Google TV app to compatible TV through the new floating action button available at the bottom right of the app on smartphones.
Google has added more tiles, notes option and more workout mode options to enhance users' experience with Google Pixel smartwatch.
