    Gujarat Election 2022 News LIVE Updates: Polling is underway in the second and final phase for 93 Assembly constituencies across 14 districts of north and central Gujarat.

    833 candidates from 61 parties are in the fray in the second phase of the Gujarat elections whose fate will be decided by over 2.51 crore electorates. There are 26,409 polling booths and nearly 36,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Around 29,000 presiding officers and over 84,000 polling officers have been deployed in 14 districts to facilitate the polls.

    Of the total 26,409 polling stations, 93 are model polling booths, 93 are eco-friendly booths, another 93 are managed by Divyang and 14 are managed by youth. Webcasting will be done in 13,319 polling booths in the second phase.

    The 93 poll-bound seats in the second phase are spread across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravali, Mahisagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda and Chhota Udaipur districts.

    Among the key constituencies in the final phase are Ghatlodia, which will determine the poll fate of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel; Viramgam where Patidar leader Hardik Patel will contest as a BJP candidate, and Gandhinagar South where the saffron party has fielded Alpesh Thakor.

    This is the second and final phase of the Gujarat election. First phase polling for 89 seats was held on December 1. Votes will be counted on December 8.

    Gujarat election Phase 2: BJP, AAP contesting all 93 seats

    • BJP and the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP are contesting in all the 93 seats.
    • Congress is contesting in 90 seats and its alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has fielded candidates in two seats.

    Whatever happened is unfortunate. I was going to my area as there's election. I saw that the atmosphere was heated there so I decided to escape. While our car was returning, some cars chased us.     Voting underway in bypolls in 6 assembly seats, 1 LS seat

    • Voting is being held today in bypolls to six assembly seats in five states and the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.
    • In Mainpuri, the Samajwadi Party is locked in a high-voltage contest with the BJP.
    • Rampur Sadar and Khatauli in Uttar Pradesh, Padampur in Odisha, Sardarshahar in Rajasthan, Kurhani in Bihar and Bhanupratappur in Chhattisgarh are the assembly seats where the bypolls will be held.
    • Counting of votes will be held on December 8, coinciding with the ballot count for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.

    Gujarat election: PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah to vote today

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi will cast his vote at a polling station set up at a high school in Ranip locality in Ahmedabad city. He arrived in the city on Sunday evening. Modi is a registered voter from Ranip area and had cast his vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and previous polls. The polling station falls under the Sabarmati Assembly constituency in Ahmedabad city.

    Congress candidate Kantibhai Kharadi missing after attack by 'BJP goons': Rahul Gandhi

    Congress sitting MLA and the party candidate from Danta constituency of Banaskantha district Kanti Kharadi has allegedly gone missing ahead of the second phase of Gujarat elections.

    Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has posted a tweet claiming, "Congress tribal leader and Danta Assembly candidate, Kantibhai Kharadi was brutally attacked by BJP goons and is now missing."
