Truck driver fined 75,000 for feeding wild elephant

Erode: Forest officials fined a truck driver 75,000 for feeding sugarcane to a wild elephant near Hasanur in the Sathyamangalam tiger reserve here on Sunday.
Hasanur forest range officer (FRO) S Sivakumar and his team were on patrol on Hasanur-Karapallam forest road when they caught the driver, C Siddhuraj, 38, of Nanjangoodu in Karnataka. “The driver who was coming from Mysuru was heading to a sugar mill at Sathyamangalam. He parked the truck on the roadside and fed the elephant. He was warned against indulging in such action again,” said Sivakumar. TNN
