Create awareness on voting: ZP CEO

Mysuru: Zilla panchayat CEO B R Poornima has directed the authorities concerned to conduct awareness programmes at every polling station to encourage eligible voters to cast their vote without fail. During a meeting organised to discuss work under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), the CEO urged the officials to take measures to enrol the names of college students, and approach college principals in this regard. The electoral roll revision campaign has been successfully conducted under the leadership of the deputy commissioner, and the district election nodal officer. Poornima also directed the officials to concentrate more on rural voters, particularly villagers living on forest fringes, and specially abled persons.
Girl wins gold in cycle polo
Mysore: Vachana, class VIII student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, has won a gold medal at the South Zone Cycle Polo competition held at Akkihebbal, Mandya, from November 11 to 14. She won the gold in the sub-junior category and silver in the junior and senior categories. Contestants from Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry participated.
Carnatic violin duet at ashram
Mysore: Amrithavarshini Bhargava and Mysore Vishveshwara Bhargava, disciples of Mysore V Amba Prasad, recentaly performed a Carnatic violin duet at Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashram, as part of Nadarchana, the yearlong cultural programmes. The duo was accompanied by Kumaraswamy on the mridangam and Bheemashankar Bidanur on Hindustani tabla.
Fellowship for hospital director
Mysore: Colombo Hospital of Srilanka honoured Fellowship to Sigma Hospital director Dr G Siddesh at a national convention of SAARC countries held at Colombo recently. Dr Sathish Gonasinghe, president of Srilanka Surgeon Associations, honoured fellowship to Dr Siddesh for his more than 35 years of
service towards medical education, and minimal surgery at the hospital, according
to a press release.
