Coimbatore: The Peelamedu police on Friday evening registered a case against a tour operator for cheating a private college management of 9.3 lakh by promising to take its students to Malaysia and Thailand in January 2020.
N Sathish, 51, an accountant of the college at Nava India, in his complaint, said a RS Puram-based tour operator approached the college management in January 2020 and explained their packages. “We paid 9.3 lakh in two instalments on January 6 and 13 to take a group of our staff and students to Malaysia and Thailand. After receiving the money, the tour operator did not organise the tour. We had tried to get back the money for the past two years, but in vain.”
Based on the complaint, sub-inspector K Sarathkumar registered a case against the private tour operator under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on.
