1 lakh Covid doses set to expire this month in Rajasthan
In November, just over 2.1 lakh doses of vaccines were administered
JAIPUR: One lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccines will expire in December in the state since the Covid-19 vaccine doses use has gone down drastically over the past few months. In November, just over 2.1 lakh doses of vaccines were administered. In October, the doses administered to the beneficiaries were just over 3.8 lakh.
According to the health department official, the state has a stock of 11 lakh doses and out of that one lakh is expiring.
“We have informed the Centre and the company to which the vaccine doses belong. We are in touch with them and gave details about the expiry of doses. The company will give us fresh vaccine doses against those which are expiring this month,” said the official.
The official said that they have stock of Covishield vaccines and are providing the doses as booster doses to the beneficiaries.
The number of doses administered including first, second and booster doses, have increased to 11.5 crore in the state.
However, with the cases of Covid-19 has been reducing for over the past few months, the enthusiasm of Covid-19 vaccination in the state has also diminished.
Officials said that since the Covid-19 cases have been reducing, the enthusiasm towards the Covid-19 vaccine has also not been the same as it was earlier.
In the state, just five persons were tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours. Three cases were reported from Jaipur, while one case each was reported from Ajmer and Jodhpur. Besides, active cases in the state have also gone down significantly. In the state, 69 persons are undergoing treatment for Covid-19, out of those, 24 were in Jaipur.
The number of Covid-19 testing has gone down. On Saturday, 3,398 samples were collected in the state for Covid-19 testing.
