ROURKELA: Two women were given life imprisonment in Sundargarh district on Friday evening for killing a five-year-old girl, three years ago. The convicted women are Sandhya Nag and Nabina Sa of Ghumuda village near Kulta under Dharuadih police limits in Sundargarh district.
People of Ghumda had accused Sandhya and Nabina of practising witchcraft. Village head Surendra Sa in a meeting had allegedly called them witches. Angry, both the women decided to avenge their humiliation by Sa and decided to kill his granddaughter.
On October 19, 2019, they kidnapped the girl and took her to Sandhya's house, where they beat her up and hid her in a box. Suspecting foul play, the girl's family searched Sandhya's and Nabina's houses and found her there. When the ASHA worker tried to take the child away, Nabina throttled her.
