FAZILKA/FEROZEPUR: Over 26 kg of heroin was recovered in a field close to the international border in Churiwala Chishti village of Fazilka on Saturday during a joint operation of the Border Security Force and the Punjab Police.
At 12.05 am, the BSP troopers heard the buzzing sound of a Pakistan drone entering the Indian territory near Churiwala Chishti village, and fired at it, forcing it to turn back to Pakistan, the BSF said. On searching the area in the morning, the BSF and the police recovered the consignment. The heroin packets are likely to have been airdropped by a Pakistani drone.

Three of the 10 AK-47 rifles seized by the police
Acting on disclosures of the smugglers caught with 13 kg heroin in Amritsar on November 21, the
Punjab police have also recovered 10 AK-47 assault rifles and 10 foreign-made .30 bore pistols in past three days, said DGP Gaurav Yadav in Ferozepur.
Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar had arrested two Rajasthan-based drug smugglers— Sukhvir Singh and Bindu Singh — which led to the arrest of their two aides, identified as Manpreet Singh and Balkar Singh alias Lovepreet Singh, both residents of Guru Harsahai in Ferozepur, from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan, where they were staying in a rented accommodation.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said based on revelations of arrested drug smugglers, the CI wing in Amritsar in a joint operation with Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday, had recovered 5 AK-47 rifles and 5 foreign made .30 bore pistols along with 9 magazines concealed near a pillar in the area of forward Post Teerath in Ferozepur. BSF recovered 5 more AK-47 rifles and 5 foreign-made .30 bore pistols along with 19 magazines hidden in the area of Border Outpost Jagdish in Ferozepur on Friday late evening, he said.
AIG Amarjit Singh Bajwa said that as per preliminary investigations, the arrested persons used to smuggle the consignment of drugs and weapons from their Pakistani associates to deliver them in different states in the country.
