27 school kids sick after drinking milk in Hanumangarh
Jaipur: At least 27 school children were rushed to the district hospital in Hanumangarh on Friday as they complained of nausea and vomiting after drinking milk provided to them at Seth Radhakishaan Bihari Government Higher Secondary School under the newly launched Mukhya Mantri Bal Gopal Yojana.
“All the children were provided treatment at district hospital which is now attached to medical college. Till evening, all of them were discharged, except four. A few of them were administered IV fluid,” said Dr O P Chahar, chief medical health officer (Hanumangarh).
The milk which was distributed to the children was powdered milk. The health department suspects that the water in which the powdered milk was dissolved was contaminated. Also, a sample of milk powder has also been taken for testing at laboratory.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot had launched the much-awaited Mukhya Mantri Bal Gopal Yojana three days ago for better health of students.
On Friday morning, the school distributed milk to the children. Soon, children started complaining of pain in abdomen, nausea and vomiting. The school administration informed the district administration and health department. The children were rushed to the hospital where they were provided treatment.
A survey of the children who were admitted to the hospital has also been done to find out how many of them had consumed milk on empty stomach, how many took it after breakfast, and how many liked drinking milk.
