Walled City markets to have watch riders soon
Jaipur: After Rajasthan High Court's instructions, the JMC Heritage corporation has been rigorously working to improve cleanliness facilities in the Walled City premises. As a new initiative, the corporation will deploy watch riders in main markets throughout the day along with existing cleaning staff.
These watch riders will take regular rounds in the city between 7am till 6pm and some of them are likely to be deployed at selected locations where garbage dumping is frequent.
“We have seven watch riders who would be on regular rounds. They are given posh machines with payment options of UPI, cash, cards; through which instant challans can be issued to defaulters instantly. With this, we are trying to instil a sense of discipline among residents, tourists, shopkeepers that they cannot spit, throw garbage, or dump waste on roads. The idea is to have these watch riders work like human CCTVs,” said Ashish Kumar, deputy commissioner for health at JMC Heritage.
Watch riders have been working in the city for a year and have collected fines of over Rs 10 lakh from violators, said an official.
