Man arrested for kidnapping, raping & murdering minor

Jaipur: A day after a nine-year-old girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered at a village in Sriganganagar, the police on Thursday arrested a man in this connection.
According to police, the girl went missing on Tuesday when another girl living in the neighbourhood had indicated that a man was taking her to buy some chips from a local grocery store. Immediately after this the family members along with local police launched a massive hunt to find the girl.
“On Wednesday, the body of the girl was found at an isolated place away from the village. It was evident that she was raped,” said Anand Sharma, superintendent of police, Sriganganagar.
As the news of the death reached her locality, a large number of people gathered at the district hospital and shouted slogans against the police. Even, the family members refused to accept the body and post-mortem.
“On Thursday morning, we got a breakthrough and arrested a man identified as Mohan Lal (42) on charges of kidnap, rape and murder. A case under appropriate sections of IPC and POCSO Act has also been lodged against the accused,” Sharma added.
After making the arrest, the police are now aiming at filing an early charge-sheet and will request the court for faster prosecution. “We are waiting for the medical and other relevant reports of the girl to file a strong charge-sheet against the accused. With strong evidence, we will pursue the case in the court to request for a capital punishment against the arrested accused. He kidnaped the girl, raped her and later killed her,” Sharma added.
