Farmers warn of protest
Hubballi: The government should immediately fulfil the various demands of farmers, including loan waiver and Agriculture Act, said Karnataka State Raitha Sangha and Green Brigade president Mallikarjun Kunnur. Kunnur told reporters here on Thursday, that farmers will block all roads in districts in December if the government doesn’t respond. “Scientific price should be fixed for crops and procurement centres should be set up at hobli level to buy farm produces. Farmers who have lost houses due to heavy rain should be compensated immediately,” he added. Kunnur also said the height of Alamati dam should be increased from 512m to 524m. “We will submit a memorandum to the government on December 5. If the government fails to respond, we will launch a statewide protest,” he added.

Belagavi: The Belagavi centre of The Institution of Engineers (India), will organise a two-day all-India seminar on ‘Sustainable Development of Industries Through Industry 4.0 Application’ from December 3. The seminar will be organised in association with Belgaum Foundry Cluster (BFC) and The Institute of Indian Foundrymen, Belgaum chapter, at the BFC Hall in Udyambag here. Ramesh Jangal, chairman of The Institution of Engineers (Belagavi), and Ram Bhandare, chairman of BFC, told reporters here on Thursday that Jacob Crasta, founder chairman of CM Envirosystems Pvt Ltd (Bengaluru), will speak on ‘Sustenance of industry: Way forward through digitisation’, while Basavaraj Hooli, senior technology professional, speaks on ‘Automation to industry 4.0’. MP Mangala Angadi will inaugurate the seminar in presence of local MLA Abhay Patil and Enti Ranga Reddy, secretary of The Institute of Engineers, Karnataka.

Hubballi: Candidates waiting for appointment letters to work as technician in railways staged a dharna demanding postings at the earliest, here on Thursday. They said they had attended a recruitment examination conducted by South Western Railway in 2018. “SWR has not issued appointment letters even four years after conducting examinations for the posts of technician and loco-pilot. They have already appointed loco-pilots, but not technicians,” they said. They submitted a memorandum to the general manager of SWR.
Peacock, deer meat seized from three poachers in Kalaburagi
Kalaburagi: Kalaburagi police have arrested three persons for selling meat of peacock and deer at a house in Yadullah Colony in Roja police limits here. The accused are Syed Najamoddin 35, Mohammad Altaf, 40, and Sami Junaidi, 30. Police have seized peices of deer and a peacock meat, two rifles, one airgun, 22 live bullets and 114 country bullets, one SUV, two cellphones, and Rs 17,718 from the trio. They used to hunt the animals and birds and get them to Najamoddin’s house where they processed the meat, said police. Kalaburagi city police commissioner Y S Raviumar said they have registered the complaint under National Wildlife Protection Act. Kalaburagi-North ACP Deepan M N led the team comprising Roja PSI Shashikumar, constables Neelappa, Rafeeq, and Irfan Khureshi.
